Noise & Space: 4/5
This treadmill is powered by a 3.0 HP continuous-duty motor, which remains quiet during workouts. The machine does not rattle nor shake while jogging or even moderate running. We believe its heavy nature actually helps attain some stability. Precor recommends having a professional assembly and installation of this exercise machine, though we were able to assemble it ourselves, with the help of friends by using the provided allen wrenches. But it takes a good hour, depending on manpower, to finish.
Workout Features: 5/5
The 9.31 Precor provides the most comfortable and convenient workout setup. In fact, we found it easy tinkering with every preset program with the exception of the random mode – bit more randomness would have been nice.
It is designed to complement and support one’s natural stride in order to minimize fatigue while walking, running, or jogging on the treadmill. It features a cushioning system which reduces impact on our joints. The machine has an options menu to choose a customized workout, and it has an incline of 0-15 percent for those wanting to push themselves further.

Motor & Horsepower: 5/5
The treadmill is powered by a 3.0 HP continuous-duty motor. While it is quiet, it still manages to power the machine at all speeds, getting the job done for serious runners who want more performance than us commoners – the motor does not produce unnecessary sounds and does not cause any distraction.
Ease of Use: 4/5
Starting the Precor 9.31 treadmill is as easy as a push of a button. Its safety features include a magnetic safety key and stop button, which will immediately turn off power when activated. You can lock or unlock the machine by using its password protection capabilities although every time the unit restarts you have to give it your weight and height parameters for any of the programs to work. We are still trying to figure out if this is a console glitch or if it exists across the entire 9.31 range, more on that in future posts. Moving on, the console is easy to read and the control¬ keypad is pretty user-friendly.
Running Belt & Deck: 4/5
Precor Premium Series 9.31 Treadmill uses Ground Effects Impact Control that absorbs shock at the point of impact limiting the spread across all joints in action. It utilizes individual shock absorbers to provide cushioning. The treadmill’s running surface is 22 x 56 inches which is enough for a good walk or a jog. The Integrated FootPlant Technology helps naturally adjust belt speed to match the speed of your feet ensuring a regular natural stride.
Extra Features: 5/5
This treadmill has so many extra features that differentiate it from other treadmills in the market. Firstly, a powder-coating process adds cosmetic topcoat to the frame making it durable. Secondly, it features an integrated fan, and an accessory holder for water bottle and reading materials. Thirdly, this treadmill is compatible with heart rate telemetry reading monitors and uses wireless chest strap transmitters for the purpose. And finally, it has a full range of workout programs and advanced options to help customize one’s workout to fit individual unique goals.
